Having explored Judaism as a faith tradition last Fall: its Biblical origins, beliefs and practices, in this series, we now move on to an examination of another Abrahamic faith tradition, Islam: its emergence, expansion, major divisions, its dogma: the “5 Pillars” and how it views Judaism and Christianity as fellow Abrahamic faith traditions.
The program will run on the 7 successive Wednesdays of Lent (starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on the Wednesday of Holy Week).
The format is “Soup and Substance” – arrive anytime after 6:00 pm to enjoy a light repast [chili, chowder, soup, artisan breads, beverages and desserts] (if you choose). The actual class presentation begins at 7:00 pm and ends promptly at 8:30 pm.
A complete set of class notes is provided and a certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the series.
Join us at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in downtown Lowell for this exciting and informative series.
