    Bishop Strickland

    Bishop Joseph Edward Strickland serves as the fourth Bishop of Tyler. He grew up in Atlanta, Texas. The Strickland’s were founding members of St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Atlanta, Texas where he assisted as an altar server. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree at Holy Trinity Seminary in May of 1985 and was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Dallas by Bishop Thomas Tschoepe. Strickland completed his canonical studies with a Licentiate in Canon Law in May of 1994 and was assigned by Bishop Edmond Carmody as rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler, Texas in June of that same year. He was appointed Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Tyler in May of 1995 and named a Prelate of Honor with the title Monsignor by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in February of 1996. On September 29, 2012, it was announced that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI had chosen Strickland as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Tyler. He was ordained to the episcopacy on November 28, 2012, by His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of Galveston-Houston with Bishop Álvaro Corrada, SJ of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan of Santa Fe assisting as co-consecrators.

    Steven Mosher is an American social scientist, anti-abortion activist, and president of the Population Research Institute (PRI), which opposes population control and abortion. In the early 1990s, he served as the director of the Claremont Institute’s Asian Study Center, as well as a member of the US Commission on Broadcasting to China. Steven has appeared numerous times before Congress as an expert in world population, China, and human rights abuses. He has also made TV appearances on Good Morning America, 60 Minutes, The Today Show, 20/20, FOX and CNN news, as well as being a regular guest on talk radio shows across the nation. He is also the author of the best-selling A Mother’s Ordeal: One Woman’s Fight Against China’s One-Child Policy.   • No Confidence in HK’s Religious Freedom (Cardinal Joseph Zen/Stephen Bannon)

    Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun, S.D.B., Bishop emeritus of Hong Kong (China), was born in 1932 in Yang King-pang, Shanghai, China. He was ordained a priest on 11 February 1961 for the Society of Don Bosco, the Salesian Order. Cardinal Zen served as a Salesian Provincial Superior for China for six years, and from 1989-96 he taught philosophy and sacramental theology in various Chinese seminaries. On 13 September 1996 he was appointed Coadjutor of the diocese of Hong Kong, and on 23 September 2002, he was made Bishop of the diocese. He received episcopal ordination on 9 December 1996. He was created and proclaimed Cardinal by Benedict XVI in the consistory of 24 March 2006, of the Title of Santa Maria Madre del Redentore a Tor Bella Monaca (St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer at Tor Bella Monaca). During the 11th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, he spoke on “Sensus ecclesiae and religious freedom”, addressing the situation of the Church in China and of the signs of hope that the Church, after years of forced separation which had apparently “divided it in two”, is a single Church heading towards a “normalization”. Cardinal Zen has publicly stated that his appointment as a member of the College of Cardinals is a sign of the Holy Father’s concern and affection for all of China. He became Bishop Emeritus of Hong Kong (China), 14 April 2009.

    Stephen K. Bannon  was an officer in the United States Navy for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In the 1990s, he became an executive producer in Hollywood, and produced 18 films between 1991 and 2016. In 2007, he co-founded Breitbart News. In August 2016, Bannon was named the chief executive officer of Trump’s 2016 presidential bid. Following Trump’s victory, Bannon was appointed Chief Strategist in the Trump administration. He left this position on August 18, 2017, and rejoined Breitbart. After leaving the White House, Bannon opposed the Republican Party establishment and supported insurgent candidates in Republican primaries. In October 2019, Bannon began co-hosting War Room, a daily radio show and podcast. On June 3, 2020 Bannon and Guo Wengui participated in declaring a “New Federal State of China”. It was proclaimed that they would overthrow the Chinese government.

    Rosemary Gibson is a graduate of Georgetown University and has a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. She writes and lectures about health care, health care reform, Medicare, and patient safety.  She is a senior advisor at The Hastings Center. She led national health care quality and safety initiatives at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She was the chief architect of the foundation’s decade-long strategy that successfully established palliative care in more than 1,600 hospitals in the United States. She is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Gibson is an editor for JAMA Internal Medicine. Previously, she worked with Bill Moyers on “On Our Own Terms,” a PBS documentary viewed by more than 20 million people that showed ways in which the U.S. health care system can better care for seriously ill patients and their families. She is an author of the critically acclaimed book, Wall of Silence, which tells the human story behind the Institute of Medicine report, To Err is Human. Her other books include The Treatment Trap which puts a human face on overtreatment; The Battle Over Health Care: What Obama’s Health Care Reform Means for America’s Future; and Medicare Meltdown, examines the business of Medicare and its impact on the fiscal challenges facing the federal program for older Americans. Her books have received international acclaim. Wall of Silence was translated into Japanese, and the Chinese translation of Treatment Trap won the prestigious Open Book Award from China Times.
